About us
TORONTO EVENT CENTRE (TEC) is the city’s leading event venue providing banquet, wedding, and corporate events.
Recently, TEC teamed up with likeminded stakeholders to address the issue of safe cannabis consumption.
Ontario faces a unique opportunity to reposition cannabis consumption into a safe, social activity whilst educating individuals on safe consumption of cannabis.
RATIONALE
- Proposing a safe, designated solution to consume cannabis within the Exhibition Place Grounds.
- The creation of a designated cannabis consumption site will allow individuals to limit their cannabis consumption to this area only.
- Thus, largely eliminating the consumption of cannabis within the Exhibition Place grounds outside of the designated space.
- SAFETY: remains the largest priority in proposing this program.
- Cannabis consumption will be encouraged to occur at a safe distance from schools, public parks/playgrounds, residential dwellings, condos and apartments.
COMPLIANCE
Our Program will comply with the
Smoke Free Ontario Act, which legislates the specific buildings and structures in which smoking is prohibited.
- We will be complying with AGCO regulations pursuant to the Cannabis Licence Act, 2019.
- Within the designated area there will be no sale of cannabis or liquor available, nor consumption of liquor.
